Colorado lawmakers face the task of dealing with a same-gender civil unions bill again this year.

This is the second year in a row that the bill has gone before the Colorado Assembly. Director of Colorado Family Institute Jessica Haverkate says it failed last year by a slim margin with just one vote in the House Judiciary Committee.
"It could come down to just one vote again," says Haverkate. "We're doing everything we can just on the ground, making sure that we're not the only ones out there advocating for traditional marriage and opposing this bill."
The family advocate says some House Republicans announced support for the measure even before its introduction -- but her group's objective, she says, is to stop the bill in committee before it reaches the floor. Haverkate says what will make the difference is a grassroots outcry involving residents who are willing to take action.
