Major League Baseball Winter Meeting Report with Cedric Bailey and Bob Stevens

Our guest on today is Sports Reporter Mr. Bob Stevens. We had a very interesting day in Dallas for MLB’s winter meeting. There was a lot of talk about C.J. Wilson and Albert Pujols and other big news. We had the opportunity to catch up with Bob Stephens to talk about the latest news in baseball. There's growing buzz at the Winter Meetings that the Marlins will emerge as the winners of the Albert Pujols sweepstakes Tuesday night, according to Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post. Multiple national writers are reporting that Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria is in a meeting with the commissioner's office regarding Pujols. In other Cardinals news, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Kyle Lohse reiterated that he has not been approached about a potential trade. Lohse, who went 14-8 with a 3.39 ERA last season, has a full no-trade clause and told the newspaper he would, as of now, reject any trade brought up to him. Meanwhile Free agent David Ortiz is expected to return to the Boston Red Sox "one way or another" a Red Sox source told ESPN today. The designated hitter, who reportedly would like to stay in Boston, would have to accept salary arbitration by Wednesday's midnight deadline, or come to terms on an agreement with the Red Sox on what is expected to be a two-year deal. Ortiz, hit .309/.398/.544 in the 2011 with 29 home runs and 96 RBIs in 2011, his ninth year in Boston. The Texas Rangers plan to make their first contract offer to free-agent starter C.J. Wilson during a meeting with his agent at Major League Baseball's winter meetings Tuesday, a baseball source told ESPN.com. Wilson, 31, has already received offers from the Marlins, Angels, Nationals and an undisclosed fourth team. A radio report Monday said that Washington had offered Wilson a six-year deal, but Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo subsequently told ESPN's Jim Bowden that the report was inaccurate. "We know what C.J. is capable of doing," Rangers CEO Nolan Ryan said Tuesday. "We really, truly believe in C.J. that he can handle the workload, that he keeps you in ballgames, that he's competitive. You don't have to worry about him being in shape. We're more familiar and more comfortable with him than anyone else. The Red Sox and Cubs are among the other clubs that have reportedly spoken with agent Bob Garber about Wilson this winter. More information to come from Dallas.
